My mom had lived in Florida for 30 years, and we were always looking for a place close to her home for breakfast. Being from N.J. I was always searching for that diner type experience, but somehow, this little gem had evaded us. This is the perfect spot for breakfast or lunch. It's family owned, great food, with fast and pleasant service. A small place, with a dozen or so tables, a few counter seats, with the grill right behind, so you can watch them make your meal. Not a large menu, but they have everything to satisfy all your breakfast or lunch needs, and more. The best is they are the most "reasonably priced" restaurant I have found in Fl. in years. They only except "cash" so bring some green. Do yourself a favor and try Orange Tree. You won't be disappointed.
Orange Tree Breakfast & Lunch New place for us and had me doing a few first. We were out west and super hungry and it was only 11 so .... for me breakfast it was. Quick Google search and I found this place. 6400 N University Dr, Tamarac, FL 33321 We pulled up and big signs.... CASH ONLY.... my first thought. Nope!!! HOWEVER. I noticed it was busy for 11 on a weekday and the crowd looked to be regulars. So I did something I would really never do. Ran to the bank There were actually a few banking options very close to it was OK. Now if you are a I want my menu to have a million options diner person. Not your place. This was my kind of place though. Your home cooked grams made it in the kitchen food. Homey atmosphere. Specials on the walls. Great pricing. How i judge a restaurant for breakfast..... the grits and biscuits and gravy. Both were amazing. Found out as we were leaving our waitress Dina told me the place has been there 48 years. That her dad had owned it and she owns it now. How amazing 48 years!!!!!! Go try them out with a friend you wanna sit and enjoy a cup of coffee with and a good home cooked meal
This diner that's been in business since the 1970s is exactly what you want it to be... family-run, no frills, and food that is country-style and comforting. Yes, they're cash-only, but that's part of the appeal. When we walked in, there were 2 people in front of us; an older gentleman walked in after us and took it upon himself to ask and jot down the names and party sizes of those of us waiting on the diner's notepad. We had a brief conversation with him, during which we learned he had been going to the diner every day for 35 years. This is the type of establishment Orange Tree is... it's an institution in the community.
I wanted pancakes and my doctor's assistant recommended this place. The pancakes were great and I’ll be returning when I’m next down here. Very nice diner and everyone is very friendly. Service was fast and friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Spectacular! Great food specially what I was looking for which was biscuits and gravy. The ladies were very kind on allowing us to come in almost at closure time. Keep in mind that the payment is cash only!
Cash only. A no frills place that serves great comfort breakfast meals. Staff is friendly and attentive. Prices are great. Have tried most of their breakfast items and have never been disappointed.

Having breakfast here for the first time. Everyone is sooo kind! Good old fashion diner just like it says. They cooked my eggs exactly like I like them scrambled with milk “old school.” Food looks so good and taste amazing! My new breakfast place!
